HEAT Update – At a Glance

Last month, the HEAT team was busy conducting 16 home energy surveys and 6 follow up visits of previous surveys, attending the last community market of the year, presenting the findings of the loyalty scheme survey to different groups in the area and launching our new HEAT Matters newsletter, to name just a few activities.

Our efforts are now focused on preparing for the loyalty scheme pilot and the upcoming Energy Fair on the 9th November at Blairgowrie Town Hall.

Energy Fair

The HEAT Energy Fair is approaching fast – less than 10 days to go! Click here to check out our list of exhibitors.

Entry to the event is free of charge and you will have access to free specialist advice on how to make your home more energy efficient.

The SCYD Events team will be there on the day to help out and The Ericht Allotment Association be serving light refreshments and home-made biscuits and cakes to raise funds for developing the local Community Garden Plot.

We look forward to seeing you at the Blairgowrie Town Hall on Friday 9th November from 4pm – 8pm.

Carbon Literacy Awareness Course / Energy Saving Workshop

On Friday 19th October we hosted the first Carbon Literacy Awareness Course – a collaboration with Forward Coupar Angus’s Climate Challenge Fund initiative – to help increase people’s awareness about climate change, how it affects their day to day live and what they can do to help fight climate change. This one-day course was conducted by Forward Coupar Angus’s Climate Literacy Trainer, Clive Bowman and held at the BRDT office in Blairgowrie. It is intended to cover the basics of climate science, look at current and likely impacts of a changing climate, explore how to communicate climate change, look at where carbon emissions come from and explore ways to encourage and support others to take steps to reduce their carbon footprint.

The HEAT team will be holding Energy Saving Workshops, at the BRDT offices, starting January 2019. This workshop is intended to run for 2 hours and will be conducted by our own Energy Advisor, Rachel Comrie.
