Welcome to The HEAT Project
The HEAT Project, part of Blairgowrie and Rattray Development Trust, was awarded a grant of £99,045 over two years from Ofgem’s Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme on April 2021.
We are also funded by the Perth and Kinross Council which allows us to offer our service across all of Perth and Kinross until the end of 2023.
Our project has delivered direct energy saving advice to over 700 households in North Eastern and Highland Perthshire, helping achieve significant savings in energy bills. We have helped households to install new insulation and alternative heating systems.
Professional Energy Advice
Providing free, clear, impartial advice. Over the last three years, we have:
- Given advice to over 700 households.
- Helped reduce annual energy bills by over 15%.
Reduce energy consumption
Our service is primarily for households, offering free, clear, impartial home energy advice.
We can help them reduce their energy consumption, energy bills, improve household energy standards, house insulation and alternative heating systems.
We also act on behalf of households to make applications to the Scottish Government Home Heating Fund to help pay off existing household energy debt.
While households remain our primary target, we are also able to offer a basic advice service to SMEs in our project area.
Working With Communities
Our approach is to cooperate with community bodies and engage with local communities.
Some of the groups we have worked with include, Mountblair Community Development Trust, Blairgowrie Climate Cafe, Forward Coupar Angus, Dunkeld and Birnam Climate Cafe, Pitlochry Climate Cafe , Perth Citizens Advice and Aberfeldy Climate Cafe.
We hold frequent energy surgeries with relevant community groups including BaRI Food, Broke not Broken, Letham4All, Dunkeld and Birnam Climate Cafe, Buttons and Bows Baby Bank.

The work of The HEAT Project is instrumental in helping to provide households, businesses and communities with energy savings advice to help them reduce their energy bills and water usage. It’s engagement with the local communities to research and review initiatives also helps towards reducing the carbon footprint and increasing environmental sustainability.
The North East Home Energy Scotland advice centre fully supports The HEAT Project and strongly believes that the aims of the project are both worthwhile and achievable.
The HEAT Project has supplied a great deal of information along with support for the general public to use as a reference for “best practice” guide to insulate the property with any grants or loans which may be available at the time.
