Why Insulating your Home should be a top priority?
Fuel poverty is when a household spends more than 10% of disposable income (after housing and childcare costs) on energy. This was 30-35% of all households in Scotland last year, and likely much higher with the cost of living crisis now. A quarter of these were also in extreme fuel poverty with a spend of more than 20% of their income.
The figure below shows how people have been cutting back, both in September 2022 and January 2023. 54% of respondents said they were cutting back on heating, 41% said they were cutting back on social and leisure and 31% said they were cutting back on food/groceries. These are worrying figures for both physical and mental health and a sure sign that times are hitting people hard.

Our project manager- Martin talked about energy bills and the impact of the long term failure to improve house insulation.
